Sarbanes-Oxley Act Of 2002

signed into law on July 30, 2002, this Act introduced highly significant legislative changes to financial practice and corporate governance regulation. Its primary objective is "to protect investors by improving the accuracy and reliability of corporate disclosures made pursuant to the securities laws". Also abbreviated as “SOX,” the Act is named after its primary authors, Senator Paul Sarbanes and Representative Michael Oxley.
